To keep up with its rivals and make its presence felt in the IT Industry, Dell today announced its plan to cut back prices of all its popular computer lines. Dell to show how serious it is has announced about 28 percent off on enterprise servers, 13 percent on Single-core server and 17 percent on Latitude laptops. This would affect IT rivals and white-box makers that rely on price for differentiation severely.
If these weren't enough, according to Dell, now Precision workstation prices will fall by up to 20 percent and a forthcoming dual-core OptiPlex GX520 corporate desktop will cost the same as single-core models. "We want to do something dramatic and remind people that Dell is Dell - it's a disruptive force," said the firm's UK general manager, Josh Claman, in an exclusive interview with IT Week.
Looks like Dell is serious about wining the IT Race and competitors like Compaq, Fujitso better come up with new strategies.
