Google the undisputed king of web search has just launched the much anticipated Google Finance service. Google unlike the earlier days is now providing financial information directly and not via MSN or Yahoo to its users. Some exclusive features include a Stock Chart which would display major news events as it happens (Would Reuters be envious ?) and an Interactive Stock Chart Timetable for viewing detailed data via a slider. Google through its News and Blog Search Network will all display the latest happenings related to companies listed in the finance area.
Google Finance in the beginning will only cover companies in North America and then move on to other areas. Also moderators have been hired to eliminate rogue elements and ensure community guidelines and also features links to US Securities and Exchange Commissions filings to senior executive biographies. This service can be accessed by visiting http://finance.google.com
This is what Google had to say about their new service:
Google is definitely an international company, and we want to make sure we are addressing the needs of all our users," said Katie Jacobs Stanton, a senior product manager at Google who is overseeing the Google Finance project.
