Okay. You keep coming across the word Origami or UMPC these days on the net but don't know exactly what they are and why are they creating such a buzz. Well hopefully via this article some of your confusion would be cleared. Origami is basically a code name for Microsoft's UMPC or Ultra Mobile Personal Computer which features an aerodynamic small hardware designed while retaining the full functionality of a Microsoft Windows-based PC and input capabilities like an enhanced touch-screen.
Microsoft like many, unveiled the UMPC which combines the power of the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition and other original technologies for a truly portable digital experience at the recent CEBIT 2006. The UMPCs is tremendously lightweight and weighs around 2 pounds with a 7-inch (17.8 centimeters) screen. It features a QWERTY keyboard and a standard keyboard can be connected via Bluetooth or a USB port. Battery life would be about 3 hours and will feature a 60 GB hard drive with a choice of Intel Celeron M, Intel Pentium M or VIA C7-M processors..
