
Mozilla's Calendar team today unveiled the Lightning 0.1, a new calendar extension for Thunderbird 1.5 email client. This is designed specifically for those users whose system runs on Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows. The Lightening Project, an upgrade to the Thunderbird Calendar is a very handy tool which integrates calendar functionality like tasks, address book, and other important information into an email client. According to Mozilla, who are thrilled about their new product - “"This is a major milestone on the road to an integrated calendar for users of Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5,"
Some features include an Improve integration and improved CalDAV support. For those who are not aware, CalDAV is a protocol allowing calendar access via WebDAV. Users can publish and subscribe to calendars, share and synchronize between multiple users and between multiple devices. For offline calendar use, there is a Cached calendar support provided by Mozilla.It is now available for download on the Mozilla site.
