AMD, a leading name in microprocessors, Flash memory devices, and silicon-based solutions has just announced the release of a 64-bit processor to run high-performance, notebooks. Mobile AMD Athlon™ 64 processor promises not only high performance but cutting edge technology too. It features a 1MB of level 2 cache, AMD's Power Now Function provides better battery management, HyperTransport for reducing I/O bottlenecks and Enhanced Virus Protection.
The AMD Athlon™ 64 processor unlike the predecessor can process added data in each clock cycle and addresses a wider memory. It has been exclusively designed for notebooks and Fujitsu Siemens is one of the first to incorporate it in its new AMILO A1667G notebook. The AMD 64 technology runs both on 64 and 32 bit technology thus making it highly flexible. AMD's HyperTransport also helps in increasing system performance and reducing bottlenecks. The AMD 64 technology is attuned to all wireless solutions including 802.11a, b and g. The Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ is priced at $382, and is now available for shipping.
