Panda Software has just incorporated anti-rootkit technology in their renowned Panda Titanium 2006 Antivirus + Antispyware and Panda Platinum 2006 Internet Security Suite. This technology promises to combat the epidemic of targeted attacks and cyber crime and has the capability to detect threatening processes hidden in memory which makes cyber crime, viruses and Trojans remain undetected.
For those who are not aware, Rootkits are hidden codes which operate maliciously and usually even the Anti Virus Software misses it. Thus generally users are unaware of malware activities like sending spam which take place from their PCs.
All Panda customers will receive the free update with the anti-rootkit technology from their website. "Rootkits have become a serious problem in recent months. Although the concept itself is nothing new, rootkits and the programs they hide are complicated to detect," explains Luis Corrons, director of Panda Labs. "With this update to our products, processes hidden in memory by rootkits are detected and analyzed by the anti-malware engine. If they are identified as dangerous, the technology blocks them, so our users are protected against this malware technique."
