
With its minuscule footprint and enormous storage device, the Seagate ST1.3 Series 12GB 1-inch hard drive looks like the perfect solution for mobiles, digital devices and portable players. It also features RunOn Technology and G-Force Protection something which is totally new to Seagate. RunOn Technology is designed to automatically keep the read heads on track while any device is in motion and compensates for the issues which rise due to high motion activities like walking, jogging etc. Thus mobiles, PDAs and PMPs which will incorporate The ST1.3 series would be free from hassles generally associated with motions and thus consequently will increase customer satisfaction.
G-Force Protection helps in reducing the trauma that is associated with dropping a handheld device. A drop can lead to a microscopic dent on the internal components thus spoiling the device for good. The ST1.3 Series hard drive with G-Force Protection prevents shock by sensing when the system is in a free-fall situation. The hard drive within 3/10 of a second moves the heads of the platter and turns the motor off. The ST1.3 series haven't been released yet but will expect to hit the markets around the 3rd quarter of 2006
