We have entered an era where every possible device is shrinking in size without compromising on the functionality. Now Sharp a company which doesn't need any introduction has just launched their first wireless LAN module, The DC2J1DZ115. According to Sharp, The DC2J1DZ115 is a perfect solution for camera phones and other small portable devices which require wireless capabilities.
Measuring just 10 x 10 x 1.6 mm, the module is smaller than a fingernail, which is half the size of Kodak's EasyShare-one's wireless card. Sharp thus claims that their LAN module is the smallest in the industry apart from being the most power efficient, as it uses 0.9 mW an hour on standby. No easy feat to achieve, if you ask me. The DC2J1DZ115 performs so well in spite of its small size because Sharp has incorporated high-frequency amplifier technology with a power management unit and a media access controller.
It will cost around 20,000 yen or about $170 USD and would be available by the end of month.
