Good news for all those who are planning to buy a laptop in the coming month. Acer has announced the Acer Aspire 9800 which would be the first 20-inch screen notebook to hit the market and would also feature a HD-DVD drive. Now that's almost the same size as the 21 inch SONY TV in my master bedroom.
Thus it’s more than a notebook and Can also be called an entertainment center. It features a 20.1-inch screen size CrystalBrite colour TFT LCD display (WSXGA+ resolution of 1680 x 10500 and includes an Intel Core Duo processor.
The Aspire 9800 runs on a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 GPU and thus produces high end graphical display. It also features built-in TV tuner for catching your prime time soaps, a HD-DVD drive and an integrated 1.3-megapixel web cam. There is a DVI port to hook up to an HDTV and users can also opt for the optional DVD±R/RW drive with dual-layer support.
Some other features include; DVI-D connectivity, 3-Watt speakers and a 4-Watt subwoofer, Hard Drive storage of up to 240GB, Built-in Bluetooth 2.0 module, LAN and WLAN (with Acer InviLink 802.11b/g Wi-Fi CERTIFIED solution, supporting Acer SignalUp wireless technology). No word on pricing yet but it should start shipping by May 2006 end.
