
Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd has just launched the ETERNUS 8000 disk array storage systems exclusively for the Asia and Indian markets. These storage systems are ideal for storage area network (SAN) environments and promises high end functionally and solid performances. It also claims to deliver robust data encryption solutions and is thus ideal for multinational companies, large enterprises as well as small and medium-sized businesses.
The ETERNUS 8000 is available in four models which includes Models 700, 900, 1100 and 2100 and can offer storage up to 1.36 petabytes (PB)and runs on 16 processors each rated at 3.6 GHz. The highest model can be connected to servers via 128 paths and capable of accommodating up to 256 GB of cache memory and eight controllers and also offers 128-bit encryption. It has been designed to be durable in any kind of dynamic environment and also features high-speed fiber channel server menus to deliver a maximum data rate of 4 gigabits per second (Gbps). Another great feature which business houses will love is its ability to make an absolute copy of the source data only during the first disk-to-disk backup.

RAID6 (Redundant Array of Independent Disks, Level 6) support, for improved fault tolerance iSCSI (Internet Small Computer System Interface) support, for remote copying over a network and inexpensive disaster recovery LUN (Logical Unit Number) expansion support, for upgrading individual system components with little or no downtime
