
The Dell Precision 690 promises cutting edge performance with its optional dual-graphics riser card that combine two NVIDIA(R) SLI(TM) graphics cards for a greater visual display and performance. Dell has incorporated the new dual-core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors and a fast quad-channel which really takes performance to the next level. The Dell 690 includes a scalable memory of up to 64GB and a new serial-attached SCSI (SAS) disk storage.
The Dell Precision 490 workstation maybe the poorer cousin of the 690 however it also impresses. The workstation also sports a dual-core Intel Xeon processor and the new memory architecture increases bandwidth by 500 percent. The desktop with its dual-orientation chassis is able to incorporate up to six slots and support to 32GB quad-channel DDR2 fully buffered DIMM ECC memory. This model also includes the new SAS hard disk which is known to deliver up to 50 percent greater performance and functionality when compared to the traditional SATA 10K HDD
