After AMD hogging the limelight regarding its new AM2 processors, how can Intel stay queit? The company just unveiled the results of its 20 key dual-processor (DP) server and workstation benchmarks which clearly states how serious Intel is and how the new Intel Core architecture will perform in the real world.
One of the first processors to be launched will be based on the new Intel Core micro architecture, the Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 5100 series which was also known as the "Woodcrest". According to Intel's tests, this processor will deliver 125% percent performance improvement when compared to Intel Xeon processors and 60% more improvement when compared to third party x86-based architectures.
The Intel Server which was initially known as "Bensley" and "Glidewell" will be able to support dual and quad-core processors built using Intel's 65-nanometer (nm) and other next generation technologies. The next processor for Bensley and Glidewell will be shipped soon and will be based on Intel Core Microarchitecture.
