Gotta give Microsoft some credit, They will try just about everything under the sun to make people switch to original copies of Windows. Take for instance the very novel and may I say innovative FlexGo which basically is akin to a prepaid card. This pay-as-you-go model lets you access the Windows OS for a limited time and once your date expires you go and buy a new card and enter the numerical code.
The idea might just work especially in developing countries like India etc where pirated windows OS cds are rampant because of high costs. In fact this concept was first tested in Brazil and according to reports, was quite a success. In fact of those who bought PCs using Microsoft's pay-as-you-go model, 31 percent said that they would not have purchased them had the FlexGo option not been possible. After Brazil Microsoft would launch this service in the following countries: Mexico, India, China, and Russia. Wonder why they did not consider Malaysia as piracy over here is still a big thorn in the Government’s behind.
