Airgo Networks, Inc. and ASUS have collaborated to launch the ASUS A6T notebook which is capable of achieving a 240 Mbps Wi-Fi performance thanks to the True MIMO Gen3 technology by ASUS. This will be the first notebook with embedded 802.11n high-speed wireless networking.
It includes AMD's Turion 64 X2 mobile technology multi-core processor and Airgo's Gen3 True MIMO chipsets. The notebook is 802.11a/b/g compatible, and can be used with any other Wi-Fi certified 802.11 device. Tests have proved that the laptop is capable of delivering TCP/IP throughput of more than 120Mbps with uncompressed traffic.
"For our first branded entry in the US laptop marketplace, we wanted to create a product that excels not just at traditional data centric chores but also offers new and exciting benefits such as complete wireless freedom while maintaining faster-than-wired speeds," noted Tony Chen, Director of ASUS Notebook Business. "By incorporating Gen3 into the A6T, ASUS has created a product that is ideal for home users wanting to access a variety of multimedia applications and content from anywhere in the home, and for business users needing high performance access to applications over a wireless network, either in the home, office or on the road. Airgo's Gen3 True MIMO technology delivers speed, reliability and range that not only surpasses anything else on the market, but looks to do so for some time to come."
