Okay as promised by us before, we shall now look at the new Toshiba 12.1 inch ultra portable notebook, the Satellite Pro U200, the latest to join the 12 inch notebook family.
This one though may look great has pretty average features. For starters I don’t understand why the Wireless LAN is an option and not a standard feature! I mean even low end notebooks have a WLAN card! However on a brighter side the U200 weighs about just 4.1lbs and is just 1.4 inch thick. Like most Toshiba notebooks, this one too looks pretty durable and has a magnesium alloy chassis, a shock-absorbing design with air pocket cushioning and padding.
The U200 can be customized according to the customer‘s need and you can opt for any of the Celeron, a Centrino or a Core Duo/Solo processors. The notebook has the Microsoft Windows® XP Home Edition as its operating system and comes with a standard 256MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz SDRAM (256MBx1).
It also includes a 12.1" Diagonal Widescreen XGA TruBrite™ display (1280x800) and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 chipset with 8MB-128MB dynamically allocated shared graphics. The U200 includes an expandable 40 GB HD with a CD-RW/DVD-ROM Multifunction drive. The base model is available for about USD$929
