Another new notebook series to join the ultra portable bandwagon is the new Averatec Ultra-Portable 1100 Series which promises to be the perfect blend of style, functionality and performance. However the fact that they skipped a Core Solo or Core Duo processor, and opted for the older ULV Pentium M processor leaves much to desire. But this might just work in favor of the notebook series as the new Core notebooks retail for over USD $2,000, where as these new notebooks would start from USD $1000.These notebooks would include a 1200x800 WXGA display and around 3 pounds which is not bad at all if you ask me. Some other features found on the notebook would include a Intel Extreme Graphics 2 video adapter and Intel 2200G 802.11b/g wireless adapter, 1GB of RAM (expandable to 2GB), an 80GB hard drive, dual-layer DVD burner, two USB 2.0 ports, one Firewire port, PCMCIA slot and a 4-in-1 media reader (MC/MMC/MS/MS PRO). The notebook would have a battery backup of about 5 hours which is pretty decent if you think about it.
