Hammer Storage, a division of Bell Microproducts, Inc. has started shipping the Hammer Z-Series, a new network storage solution for small and mid size businesses. By adding the Z-SAN(TM) Storage-over-IP (SoIP) technology to the Hammer(TM), this gives birth to the Hammer Z-Series.
"Z-SAN is the only storage architecture that delivers on all of these demands at the sametime, allowing Hammer to be the first to provide exactly what the market needs." said Jerry Kagele, Executive Vice President, Computer Products at Bell Microproducts. Now, doesn't that sound pretty close to what EMC said sometime ago about their new SME products. Hmm….
The Hammer Z-Series solution features the Z-Box(TM) desktop and the Z-Rack(TM) 1U rackmount solutions with capacities of up to two (2) terabytes per device. The 1U rackmount has an edge over rackmount NAS and entry-level SAN solutions as it offers both performance and affordability.
