
At the Computex 2006 show, Intel launched its 965 Express chipset family which includes the Q965, P965 and G965 and its ideal for both high end professional and personal usage as it seamlessly handle high video graphics without resorting to a graphics card. While P965 chipset is available form today, its siblings Q965 and Q965 will ship with the Viiv 1.5 and Intel VPro technology respectively at a later date. The new P965 chipset to eliminate imbalance between processor and memory speeds utilizes Fast Memory Access and is compatible with Intel's next generation of Core 2 Duo processors.
For the uninitiated, Fast Memory Access (FMA) is an updated version of the memory Controller Hub and is compatible with dual-channel DDR2 at 800MHz. It utilizes external Serial ATA (eSata) support, High-definition Audio and Quiet Systems Technology for soundless operations. The G965 is ideal for home usage that needs home cinema-type PC and it also supports GMA X3000 graphics media accelerator.
