The new Sony A/V receiver, the STR-DG1000 is the latest attempt from Sony and has been designed to work in conjunction with Blu-ray Disc players and other HD sources. It boasts of features like dual HDMI active intelligence which automatically catches the highest quality video and audio signals and offers a resolution of up to 1080p with eight channels of uncompressed audio. The Digital Cinema Auto Calibration (DCAC) technology ensures never unrivaled audio performance as it has the ability to adjust speaker placement, distance and delay. The 7.1 channel audio/video receiver supplies 120 watts of system power per channel and is able to support HDMI switching and the up-conversion of composite, S-video and component video sources to HDMI.The onboard Portable Audio Enhancer lets one plug any portable audio player and the onboard multi-room capability delivers 5.1 channel sounds in the main room and also in the second room through the remaining two channels. Other features found include HDMI, component and optical inputs, five inputs and two outputs for A/V, and three inputs and one output for audio.
