Another new ground breaking technology showed recently by PQI is the 64GB NAND Flash 2.5" Disks which was developed in conjunction with Samsung by using their NAND flash memory chips. As expected, the new 64GB IDE and 64GB SATA 2.5" storage solutions have already created a lot of buzz and excitement in the industry. The new drives will be perfect for mobile devices like UMPC, ultra portable notebooks and even mobile gadgets. The new devices are expected to hit the market around August 2006 and will sport an extremely durable and rugged design. These drives will be more cost efficient, boot up faster and won’t suffer from heat issues when compared to conventional hard drives.
The new 64GB IDE and SATA 2.5" drives will also operate silently in the background because of the spinning-less design and won’t freeze up the PC when running graphic intensive operations. No word on the pricing yet but industry pundits are predicting that these drives will no doubt be more expensive than even the fastest 7200RPM hard drives currently available. You’ve got to pay when you want the best in technology.
