The new Symantec Data Center Foundation for standardization
symantec-logo8d.gifSymantec Corp recently launched the world’s first and only standardized integrated solution across a varied set of application including databases, servers and storage platforms. Its definitely something I see useful since standardization is something very important when you have various platforms to support and the cost of maintaining it becomes very high when you need to hire workers with different skill sets.

The new Symantec Data Center Foundation is able to achieve this feat as it includes Veritas NetBackup, Veritas Storage Foundation, Veritas Server Foundation and Veritas i3 application performance management. So what does this mean? Well simply put companies all over will be replace different tools with the Symantec Data Center Foundation for greater protection ,will let one access critical information and applications and give greater control of complex data center environments.

“Data centers today are at the breaking point – complexity has run out of control, driving costs up and jeopardizing service levels” said Kris Hagerman, senior vice president of the data center management group at Symantec Corporation.

The Symantec Data Center Foundation is compatible with leading systems including UNIX, Linux and Windows platforms, including Solaris, Solaris Opteron, HP-UX, AIX, Red Hat Linux, Novell SUSE Linux and Windows, EMC, HDS, HP, IBM, Sun, Network Appliance and other vendors.
The Veritas NetBackup features the NetBackup Operations Manager which helps in managing thousands of backup jobs and policies from a central browser-based console. The Veritas Storage Foundation includes the  Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas File System and Veritas CommandCentral Storage. Then there is the Veritas i3 application performance management solution ensures customers optimized
performance.
