
Toshiba Corporation is generating a lot of buzz by showcasing its new and groundbreaking 2.5-inch hard disk drive (HDD)which sports the innovative perpendicular magnetic recording technology. The new HDD by Toshiba is in fact of the industry's largest(a) 200GB capacity with only two platters. Wait there is more to this HD!. The MK2035GSS is only 9.5 millimeters thick with two hard-disk platters and weighs only 98 grams. This HDD includes four heads and will be perfect for products like slim notebooks. The HDD also boasts of highest areal density yet achieved of 277.1 megabits per square millimeter (178.8 gigabits per square inch).
"We are delighted to announce the addition of this new 2.5-inch HDD to our line-up of perpendicular magnetic recording HDDs," said Kazuyoshi Yamamori, Vice president of Storage Device Division at Toshiba Corporation's Digital Media Network Company. "Larger data capacity in a small form factor HDD is essential for continued advances in the notebook PC market and in personal audio and video applications.
