Imagine the possibilities of carrying a device that provides you with broadband access anytime, anywhere. This is now possible with HP successfully creating the "Memory Spot" wireless chip that shares roughly the similar dimensions as a grain of rice. All products can be further reduced in size when they incorporate such a chip, but of course that is limited by a minimum size of the screen as anything smaller than 3" makes Web surfing a pain rather than a joy. This new wireless chip is able to provide objects with a 10Mbps data transfer rate, which is at least 10 times faster than current Bluetooth connections. It is powered by a reader device, making it suitable to be incorporated into a cellphone, PDA, camera, or even a printer. HP hopes to develop and expand the functionalities of the Memory Spot wireless chips in order to come up with something viable for consumers in the near future.
Pros : Small, wireless chip
Cons : Still in prototype stages. Should come with a tracking device.
