Intel will be bringing forward the release date of both its quad-core desktop and server processors to this year, rendering the original release date of early 2007 meaningless. Both desktop and server processors have been given the codenames Kentsfield and Clovertown respectively when announced earlier this year. These two products will not only see action on the Windows front, but they will be included in future revisions of Apple's new Mac product lines as well. This announcement was followed by the confirmation that Intel will also release its Core 2 Duo notebook processor within the next few weeks. Codenamed Merom, this new processor will make its debut shortly after its desktop brother, the Conroe, arrives on the world stage on July 27th. Intel hopes to make the 64-bit dual-core Merom the mainstream processor in the worldwide notebook market.
Pros : New and emerging technology empowers notebooks to be faster and more efficient
