
Samsung Electronics has successfully used the most advanced Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND flash memory to develop the industry's highest density MultiMediaCard. In the process, Samsung also claims the honour of developing the highest performing MMC card based on the Single-Level Cell (SLC) NAND flash. These new developments are hoped to spur user convenience in the world of mobile applications.
These new MMCplus cards based on Samsung's NAND flash memory will come in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities. 8GB worth of storage space is able to store a whooping 2,000 MP3 files or the equivalent of 8 hours of DVD-quality movies. Look out for the MMCplus cards in stores when they are released in the second half of this year.
