SanDisk has lifted the curtain on its Extreme IV line of CompactFlash digital film cards that targets professionals who require fast read and write times in their line of work, especially professional photographers. These new flash memory cards are available in capacities of up to 8GB and boasts a minimum read/write speed of 40MB/s. SanDisk decided to introduce its new Extreme FireWire reader simultaneously with the Extreme IV CompactFlash cards in order to offer a similar minimum read/write speed so that data can be transferred in the fastest time possible. The FireWire 400 connection is much slower though, as it transfers data at half the rate of the FireWire 800. The Extreme IV CompactFlash cards are available in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB capacities and will retail for $200, $400, and $700 respectively.
Pros : Fastest in the industry, has large capacities
Cons : Relatively expensive
