SigmaTel is the leader in mixed-signal, multimedia semiconductors and has released the SigmaTel STDC8080 SOC solution that will provide inkjet and dye-sublimation photo printer manufacturers with a complete controller solution to lower the bill of materials cost. This is a significant development as it enables its customers to develop low cost products that can offer high quality printouts which is crucial in the ever-discerning consumer market. The STDC8080 supports standalone photo printing as well as PC-connected photo printing since its flexible printing interface supports inkjet and dye-sublimation technology based printers. The SigmaTel STDC8080 comes with a high-performance, configurable Hardware Image Processor and an advanced 32-bit RISC processor. Other innards include an integrated LCD Graphic Controller, a Memory Card Controller, a USB High-Speed Device port for optional PC connections, and multiple USB Host High-Speed ports. The USB Host ports are compatible with digital PictBridge cameras, WiFi devices, Bluetooth devices, USB FLASH drives, and various devices.
