The design is the first and only solution to fully integrate the power management unit (PMU), battery interface and charging circuitry, digital baseband, analogue baseband and RF transceiver into a single monolithic CMOS IC.
The mobile phone industry is in a slow down phase now. Basically everyone who can afford a handphone already own one or has owned a few. Thus the other untapped market would be the so called emerging market - which are the low cost handsets.
Greater volume in manufacturing sales and service provider service could one day hopefully translate to cheaper cost for all consumers. One day, maybe mobile phone would be usage as cheap as electricity.

AeroFONE integrates all the functions necessary for a GSM/SMS ( Si4901) or GSM/GPRS ( Si4905) phone including the analog and digital basebands, power management, battery interface and charging circuitry, and the RF transceiver in a single monolithic CMOS integrated circuit. AeroFONE needs only a power amplifier, front-end switch, SAW filters, and non-volatile memory to develop a complete GSM/GPRS handset, modem, or data terminal. AeroFONE achieves the highest level of integration resulting in the smallest, most cost-effective solution available.
