Systemax will introduce its new 15.1" Vigor semi-rugged notebook. We suppose that means a notebook that is built tougher than the average model in the market, yet it isn't robust enough to withstand punishing environments like the desert. Its safety features include a magnesium alloy casing, a shock-mounted hard drive, a spill-resistant C-Face at the area surrounding the keyboard, touch pad, speakers, and power switches. It also complies with standard military specifications regarding ruggedness (810F), boasting of an Ingress Protection rating of IP54 that specifically offers protection against elements like rain and dust.
The Vigor is also a fraction of the cost of similar rugged and semi-rugged notebooks on the market from larger competitors, making it the perfect entry-level system for a wide variety of professional and mainstream consumers. It is powered by an Intel Celeron M370 processor (1.5GHz/400FSB/1M) and comes with features like a 40GB Ultra ATA hard drive, 256MB of RAM, a DVD±RW optical drive, and a 1-year warranty.
Pros : Robust, relatively inexpensive, value-for-money
Cons : Too little RAM
