Touch screen handphones are set to be the next step in the evolution of the mobile communication. According to research company Strategy Analytics, the touch screen user interface is set to see a significant growth by the end of 2007. Their assumption is based on certain conditions that need to be met.
First of all, the cost of touch screen must shrink from the present $10-$5 to under $3. Second of all, there need to be software upgrade and killer apps that will encourage and educate users to the advantage of touch screen. And finally the industry needs a catalyst or a huge marketing push that will ignite consumers curiosity towards the new interface.
