Using Internet VOIP services on the go at public terminals has never been convenient prospect because of the trouble you need to go through to set things up.
Vonage has introduced its new softphone called the V-Phone, a portable and multifunctional 256 MB USB device with a pre-loaded softphone. The V-phone comes with a standard 2.5 mm stereo earpiece microphone, which is compatible with many cell phone headsets, so there is no lugging around additional equipment. This phone offers added convenience because phone call history and contacts travel with the V-Phone if customers insert it into different PCs. The device is though, is Windows only at this point and compatible neither with Macs nor with Linux.
Softphone technology has certainly come a long way since it's first commercial appearance in 1995 (VocalTec's Internet Phone)
