The new SAMBA Integrated Tri Band GSM/GPRS Engine from Falcom is an extremely compact Plug and Play device that enables you to
surf the Internet anywhere you are with your notebook or UMPC, albeit with rather slow EDGE speeds. All you need to do is to insert your SIM card into the SAMBA and then plug it into an available USB port and you're good to go. It is important to note that the SIM card ought to be removed and placed back into your cellphone unless you want to use your notebook as the primary calling device. A more ideal solution would be getting a separate data-only cellphone line. The SAMBA is able to send and receive data via GSM and GPRS, supporting voice, SMS, and FAX functionalities. For a greater customization level, you can choose up to seven ring tones.
Pros : Portable and compact modem
Cons : EDGE surfing speeds extremely slow compared to a WiFi hotspot
