Most people think that home theater PCs do not complement the living room as the mental image of PC cases being huge, ugly,
rectangular hunks of metal are still seared in their minds. Thankfully, Philips' latest attempt to bring you a Media Center Edition PC is the exact opposite, boasting an extremely sleek design that are bound to get even the strongest detractors drooling. The Philips LX1000 Media Center Edition PC might be small in stature, but it is no slouch when it comes to performing even the most multimedia intensive tasks. The LX1000 measures just 7.68" tall, 2.28" wide, and 8.83" wide and is powered by an AMD Turion 64 ML-34 1.8GHz processor. Its processing tasks are further assisted by a generous 1GB of DDR RAM. Other hardware specifications include a 120GB hard drive, built-in WiFi connectivity, a dual layer DVD rewriter, and the graphical muscle of an nVIDIA GeForce 6600 GPU. This extremely able Media Center Edition PC comes with a price tag of $1,890 which is a little on the high side, but bear in mind you are probably forking out a fair amount for something that looks so sweet and has the performance figures to back it up.
Pros : Great performance in an attractive design
Cons : Rather pricey
