Looks like the long awaited Sony PRS-500 Reader is finally available after numerous delays. Unfortunately, it seems that Sony did not bother to update the hardware specifications to make it up-to-date when released. The PRS-500 comes with a paltry 64MB memory which is enough to store up to 80 books on average,

although you can further expand its memory by purchasing a Sony Memory Stick or an SD card. The PRS-500 measures a mere 0.5" in thickness and weighs less than 9 ounces, making it a viable alternative to carrying paperbacks around when you're on a long haul flight. The Sony PRS-500 uses E Ink technology that provides a paperlike look to it, and the ability to magnify text comes in handy for older folks. The PRS-500 has a battery which can last for approximately 7,500 page turns, and it requires 4 hours to fully recharge it. You can now search through your favorite encyclopedia or book and find the page in an instant with the built-in search function. Too bad it has only a monochrome display at this point of time, and the high price of $350 is rather off-putting to some.
Pros : Able to store virtually an entire library on a single device
Cons : Limited built-in memory, monochrome, expensive
