The Helio Hybrid is a pretty interesting device that offers 3G connectivity as well as the ability to connect to a WiFi network whenever possible. Granted, most notebooks already come with built-in WiFi capability but this could be a handy upgrade tool for those with older notebooks who do not yet want to upgrade into
something newer. This means you can achieve 3G coverage whenever possible, automatically switching over to a WiFi connection whichever one is faster. It is a pity that the Helio Hybrid card does not come in the ExpressCard format, as this could be used in AMD devices which do not have built-in WiFi available unlike the notebooks that are powered by Intel chipsets. Most new notebooks today have already moved on to the ExpressCard slot and left the PCMCIA Type II format behind. The Helio Hybrid is available for free if you sign up for a two year contract worth $85 a month. Owners of MacBooks and MacBook Pros will have to give this one a miss as it is compatible with the PC platform only.Pros : Provides 3G and WiFi connectivity at an affordable rate
