According to Lite-on IT, HP will begin to ship its first internal DVD writer that burns at speeds of up to 18x from next month onwards. How do they know that? The answer is pretty simple - the Taiwanese optical disc drive manufacturer is also the same
company that makes optical drives for HP as well. Lite-on claims that 18x is the designated new writing speed standard for HP. Also known as the HPdvd940i, this optical drive is compatible with a wide range of DVD and CD recordable and rewriteable formats. It does not forget about DVD-RAM as well, and works perfectly well with dual-layer media also. The inclusion of LightScribe technology is a positive step forward as you can now flip the disc over once the burning process is complete and begin to write the label in a professional looking manner.
