I am using Core Duo Processor right now and I was surprise to even heard that Intel is going to come with Quad Core processor soon. I was so surprised to hear the news that they have Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 quad-core CPU. 
This QX6700 also known as Kentsfield is actually a pair of Dual Core processor combined together, and of course, it's far from perfect.
At the moment, it's working particularly great with graphic editing programs like Adobe photoshops, but there's no significant increase for games with high visual details. The processor's clock speed, is at 2.66GHz, that's not any better than the older Core 2 Extreme X6800, which clocked at 2.93GHz.
