OCZ EvoStream 600-watt SLI PSU using Modular Design

No doubt when it comes to making high caliber components, OCZ is a big name with a big say. They have made their name for selling pre-modded ThunderbirdOCZ-EvoStream-600-watt.jpg core processors with soldered bridges even before when the market is still young. And this targeted those enthusiasts that sure are in the know.

But will they live up to their standards with the their latest addition to their collection? The EvoStream 600 watt SLI PSU. It is one of their latest power supply to ever wear the OCZ moniker.

So far the reviews for this product have nothing but nice. I personally find it normal as I first look at it. But its so surprising not to see the usual tangles of cables. It is because all the wiring harness is modular to include the primary and auxiliary power couplings. For the looks, I can say there isn't much room for creativity like what we can find in most products these days. But what it has can still be considered a sleek and very sophisticated polished design. The back of the unit houses the exhaust fan, the power input and a toggle switch to turn the PSU on and off. Also like most, it has the ability to adapt by auto-switching, setting itself automatically to the proper power rating available be it 110V or 220V. So as expected no short circuit will ever occur. It has other features available as well for you to personalize it, like maybe a lighting of your own choice. There is also a part where isn't modular and you can add the cables by simply adding the panel that comes along with it.

The cables included in the package are; 20+4-pin primary coupler, a 4+4-pin auxiliary coupler, and connectors for two PCI-E devices, four SATA devices, six 4-pin Molex and one FDD device. Figures show that it is designed to handle a continues load of 600 watts. It makes use of four 12v rails, each of which are rated at 15A. It may not be every enthusiast dream but it sure is capable. One more thing is the noise, it is not a quiet thing but sure is not also a noisy one. All in all to some it all up, $181.39 is well worth it for a new box of the OCZ EvoStream 600-watt SLI PSU using Modular Design.
