Well at $80, it really is a low profile you can say. The price itself makes a great promotion for the S3 Graphics which is now available on its US web shop - the GStore. But for that cheap price what exactly are we gonna get? If the makers proves to be true to their word, we would be getting a a far great deal for our 80
bucks. S3 Graphics is the latest addition to its Chrome S27 PCI Express graphics card range. Ok the kicker maybe because it is only DX9-compatible. But what the heck, the $80 card, the ChromeS27 Low Profile DDR2, is also said to be fully support "the graphics demands of Microsoft Windows Vista".
So what else is needed? The company actually likend it to a 256MB/128bit 400MHz DDR2 board that is ideal (not the best but ideal) for for 3D game play and home media center market. Because "it combines the best performance per Watt in the industry for low-heat, low-noise operation". Support for DVI and VGA displays - and for "Macrovision-certified TV-out" is also said ot be available as well as native 1080p HDTV support. Which is provided by the the Chromotion 3.0 programmable video engine, with hardware accelerated motion compensation and WMV-HD capability. If all this proves to be true; then I guess thats one $80 dollar I won't be sorry to let go of.
