Continuing the legacy left behind by R500(ATI x1k series), ATI is launching the next
big thing in 3D graphics, R600. Shots and news are starting to leak out regarding ATI new breed of cards. There is just one word for it-huge. 12.4 inches in length, its not a card for simply any casing or power supply. The XTX version of the card will be shipped with a whopping 1gb DDR4 RAM where as its XT version will be shipped with 512mb DDR3 RAM. The OEM version of XTX cards measures 12.4 inches and consumes 270 watts of power. Its retail version is somewhat trimmed down measuring 9.5 inches and consumes 240 watts of power while the weaker XT match this specs. Taggin along, ATI will launch R600XL which will be cheaper and hopefully less demanding. Just as a reference nVidia 800 GTX is considered outlandish with its length of 10.4 inches and 165 watts of power. Let’s wait and see what R600 has to offer when it launches.source
