When nVidia just launches 8800 series, the price has been a great deterrent even for the most hardcore of gamers. Now nVidia comes up with a trimmed down version of
its flagship product. A 320mb DDR3 8800 GTS. With price just under 200 pounds, it makes it a more affordable card for a larger market group. The specs makes good reading: 500MHz core clock frequency, 96 unified shaders zipping along at 1.2GHz and 1.6GHz effective memory. All this equates to a mighty 26.4bn texels per second, a massive 64GBps of memory bandwidth courtesy of PCI-e, HDCP enabled and offers up dual DVI-I and is VGA capable via a DVI to VGA converter and Vista-friendly DirectX 10 compatibility. How will the card compare with its more powerful brother the 512 mb 8800 GTS and 8800 GTX remain to be seen. Hopefully there won be too great of a difference. A brief look will say that it won’t be far away from its bigger brother.
