In an effort to boost performance and take advantage of new features like Vista's ReadyBoost, Corsair announced its line of Voyager GT USB. The flash drives will offer read/write performance of up to 34MB/sec and 28MB/sec, respectively, and are
meant to complement the company's existing Flash Voyager USB drives. The GT line will come encased in an all-rubber housing, feature password protection using 256bit AES encryption, and will be available in 2-Gbyte ($29.99), 4-Gbyte ($59.99), and 8-Gbyte ($119.99) capacities, according to Corsair. That speed comes from the hand-selected NAND flash for each drive, a newly designed flash controller, and enhanced dual channel and interleave memory technologies, according to Corsair. the Voyager GT is up to 5 times faster than a typical USB drive and can transfer 20 office files (1.06-Mbytes) in less than one second, as opposed to the 5 seconds it would take an average USB drive. Flash Voyager GT can also transfer a 1.63-Gbyte movie in 82 seconds whereas a typical drive would take close to six minutes.
