Notebook harddisk drives has been limited by its size and speed. Always being considered as the slower of harddisk drives Fujitsu Limited today answers to that with the development of the new MHW2 BJ series of world's first 7,200 rpm 2.5" hard disk drives (HDDs) with a serial ATA 3.0 Gb/s interface. Coming at a storage capacity of 160 GB for a 7,200 rpm 2.5" HDD, the new series is will aim at desktop replacement power notebooks. By the end of May 2007, users around the world will be able to have first hand experience of this new harddisk. Featuring the fastest data transfer rate in the industry and lowest acoustic noise this product will not come cheap. No pricing is being given yet. It will be interesting to see what other manufacturer has in hand to challenge Fujitsu. I am expecting either Hitachi or Seagate to come out with something similar pretty soon.
