Buffalo Technology has recently launched the new AirStation Wireless-G MIMO Performance Router (WHR-HP-G54DD), which is the first to come with DD-WRT firmware pre-installed. The product is oriented for SMB and SOHO market and has an affordable price. The router resulted from a partnership between Buffalo with firmware developer NewMedia-NET.
Many DD-WRT based routes are in use, but their users have had to install the firmware by losing the manufacturer's warranty. The WHR-HP-G54DD router comes with two years warranty and full technical support.
The specs list is really impressive. I will tell you some advantages and features of this device. It includes five QoS levels (bulk, standard, express, premium and exempt) in order to guarantee bandwidth, Dynamic DNS, Wi-Fi multimedia (WMM) and multiple service set identifier (SSID). In addition, it features mesh networking application that incorporates the optimized link state routing (OLSR) protocol and WPA security. For resellers and systems integrators the device has key applications for data transfer (VPN functionality, PPTP protocol) and network management.
The router has a fair price of £41.70 (or $86) and is available from MicroP and Computer 2000.
