The new SSDs deliver a write speed of 100 Mbytes/s and a read speed of 120 Mbytes/s, making them a great solution for servers or PCs as well. The SSDs construction is based on 50 nm-class, single-level-cell (SLC) 8Gb flash chips and high-speed SATA controller. Of course they come with supporting software too.
A recent study made by Web-Feet Research, estimates that total SSD revenues are expected to hit $10.2 billion by 2012, with an average growth rate of 72% per year. Although SSD shipments are not available yet, Samsung seems to be one of the top vendors for the near future.
