Sierra Wireless unveiled the new Apex 880, an USB modem that supports a full HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) connection. It offers download speeds up to 7.2Mbps and also uploads at 2Mbps. The Apex 880 modem supports tri-band UMTS and quad-band GSM/ EDGE networks to keep its users connected at all times.
Even it measures only 85mm x 37.5mm x 15mm, the modem features a microSD slot to spare the use of an additional card reader. Also Apex 880 comes with built-in drives for installation. You just need to plug it in and the drivers run themselves. It works with Mac OS X, Windows 2000, and later editions.
Sierra prepares the device for January. No price details have been announced yet, but its pricing could depend on individual carriers and their service plans.
