In order to obtain miniaturist electronics, Toshiba and NEC Electronics will work together to manufacture the 32-nm chips. They have announced on Tuesday their collaboration to develop technologies for fabricating system LSI (large scale integrated circuit) chips. The two companies have worked together since February last year on a 45 nanometer production process which is approaching its end.
By creating smaller chips, the manufacturer try to obtain more powerful chips that consume less electricity. That means better performances for all kinds of electronics gear.
To cut costs and to avoid the risks, the companies have agreed to work in a joint venture. For the 45 nanometer chips, Sony was involved in the production process too. But Sony will not take part in the 32-nanometer manufacturing process from financial reasons.
