Samsung released last week its new terabyte hard disk. The SpinPoint F1 Series is the first Samsung drive that beats the 1 TB barrier. In fact the hard disk features three spindles for 334 GB per platter capacity. It performs better because of the new technologies used: improved recording stability over temperature with PMR, advanced dynamic FOD control for best data integrity or enhanced performance with dual-ARM based firmware.
The Samsung SpinPoint F1 has a 32MB buffer and runs at 7,200 rpm. It uses Serial ATA 3.0Gbps Interface Support. Samsung Electronics is the best provider of hard drives with low energy consumption. The SpinPoint F1 consumes an average of 6.7 watts in idle mode and an average of 7.2 watts in random seek mode.
The hard disk retails for the recommended price of $399. It suits perfectly for enterprise use as well as for home users.
