The popular web browser Firefox has gained 20% market share from January 2007 till December 2007. Due to a survey of XiTi Monitor, Firefox has reached 28% of total market share in Europe. The main competitor, Internet Explorer has 66.1 percent in Europe, while Safari gets only 2 percent of the European market. Firefox has gained success as the Norwegian browser maker Opera complained against Microsoft policy of delivering Windows with free integrated Internet Explorer. In my opinion, Firefox is so popular because of superior security. I use it myself and I feel very protected while surfing online. Moreover, the availability of so many extensions and add-ons makes Firefox the favorite browser for web developers. Because of security issues, Internet Explorer losses against the other competitors. Many offices and businesses migrate for Opera and Firefox. It is a matter of time till the Firefox will become number 1 browser. That could happen sooner than we think, because Firefox 3 is going to be released. Currently a beta version is available. via Arstechnica
