Today at MacWorld 2008, Apple has presented the new MacBook Air notebook. This new laptop seems to be the thinnest in the world. It measure only 0.16" at the front and 0.76" at the rear. Also it weights only 3 pounds. Besides the minimal dimensions, MacBook Air has an innovative design.
As Steve Jobs said - "It's the world's thinnest notebook. We went out and looked at all the thin notebooks out there and tried to distill a best-of-breed."
The MacBook Air looks fabulous. Even its size doesn't promise too much, the notebook is very powerful and has so many features. Apple chose Intel processors 1.6GHz or 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4MB on-chip shared L2 cache running at full processor speed. The performance is increased by the 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM onboard. It sports a 13.3-inch glossy widescreen TFT LED backlit display with support for millions of colors. Furthermore, to complete its amazing design, the keyboard looks very neat and it features an ambient light sensor for automatic adjustment of keyboard illumination.
It comes with 80GB hard drive, but the customers can choose a SSD hard drive of 64GB, which has no moving parts for enhanced durability. MacBook Air includes a built-in iSight camera for web chat. You would think its slim battery won't offer a great performance, but Apple says it keeps running five hours with wireless turned on.
Other important features would be the micro-DVI port that supports DVI, VGA, composite, and S-video output, the 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR built in.
The ultra-thin laptop was priced at $1,799 and will begin shipping in two weeks. Pre-orders are available starting from today.
